Most Common Blade Problems:
| Blade won't cut Primarily the result of the bond being too hard for the application. It can also be caused by the blade rotating at a speed much higher than recommended, or direction of rotation is wrong. The product may take on a smooth or polished appearance showing very little diamond exposure. Continued operation under these conditions will cause excessive heat build-up resulting in bluing at periphery, or cracking of segments and core. To re-expose or open up the blade again, make sure RPM is correct and cut some soft abrasive material such as cinder block, asphalt, sandstone, until diamonds become more apparent.

| Blade Dished (floppy) A sure sign that the blade has lost its tension. Most often times caused by over-heating either due to application, speed or loss of coolant. Return blade to factory for retensioning.

| Blade Out of Round Main cause is equipment defect due to worn bearings or pillow blocks, or bent or worn-out spindles. Whether new or old, inspect equipment and repair.

| Undercutting / Knifing
of Blade underneath Segments This is the result of either completely cutting through a slab and allowing the blade to spin in gravel or sand underneath. This is also caused by cutting in excessively abrasive material without sufficient coolant flow to wash away cutting fines. Steel core becomes worn away just underneath segment resulting in a weakened solder/weld joint causing premature loss of segments and an unrepairable blade. Correct this situation by attempting not to cut through slab into underlying substrate or at least keeping it to a minimum. Also ensure that sufficient water flow is directed on both sides of the blade in order to wash away cutting fines.

| Cracks in Steel Core Fatigue caused by continued use of a blade whose bond is too hard for the application. Condition cal also be attributed to worn spindle/bearings or misalignment of saw. If segments show signs of polishing, bonding is too hard. If exposure is adequate, then equipment should be inspected and repaired. |
